De Quinta do Monte d'Oiro Branco is een blend van Viognier, Arinto & Marsanne. De druiven komen van een wijngaard uit de Lisboa appelatie van klei en kalksteen. De fermentatie vind plaats op INOX tanks, waarna het sap 5 maanden ‘sur lie’ verder rijpt op de INOX tanks. Overheersende aroma’s van citrus, appel en witte bloemen. De smaak is loepzuiver met elegante tonen van rijp wit fruit en eindigt met een verfrissende afdronk. Een perfecte wijn bij schaal- en schelpdieren, vis, gevogelte. De wijn heeft altijd rond de 90/100 parkerpunten wat uniek is voor een wijn uit deze prijsklasse. De Wine Advocate (Parker) eindigt zijn beoordeling met "This is a reliable bargain these days that can age a bit, and perhaps better than anticipated"

The 2021 Branco (the former Lybra Branco) is a blend of 50% Viognier, 20% Arinto and 30% Marsanne, unoaked, dry and coming in at 13.5% alcohol. Fresh and fruity, this always stays relatively serious. It's made to drink young, but it has the structure to age a bit and good depth too. For the entry-level white, it is a very nice value. Not imported, this runs around 10 euros in Portugal.
This is a producer gradually getting to the point of organic certification. Sophie Mrejen, who does the winery's marketing, says, "Our whites and rosé are certified organic, but our reds, because of the aging process in barrels, aren’t organic wines. . . . Deeper into it: all of our wines are made from our own grapes, which are 100% organic (our whole vineyard is certified since 2015)," but the barrel aging process means that some of the reds will exceed the sulfites limit for organic wines, so the individual red wines are not yet certified.

Dit wijngebied in Portugal, zo’n 50 kilometer ten noorden van Lissabon staat al sinds de 17e eeuw bekend om zijn geweldige terroir. In de jaren 80 van de vorige eeuw is Quinta do Monte d’Oiro in handen gekomen van José Bento dos Santos, van oorsprong industrieel chemisch ingenieur. Hij combineert zijn passie voor kwaliteitswijn en gastronomie en heeft op beide gebieden inmiddels vele onderscheidingen ontvangen in zowel binnen- als buitenland. De 20 ha wijngaard worden biologisch bewerkt. Er zijn uiteraard lokale druivenrassen aangeplant als touriga nacional en arinto maar ook de beste mondiale soorten als petit verdot en tempranillo (tinta roriz). De invloed van de Atlantische Oceaan en de kalk- en kleigronden geven dit gebied haar unieke terroir. Graça Gonçalves leerde wijnmaken o.a. van haar vader en speelde een grote rol in het omschakelen naar biologische productie op Quinta do Monte d’Oiro.
