A rich and layered white Châteauneuf with tension, maturity and remarkable length.

The white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Clos des Papes is one of the appellation's benchmarks every year. In 2022, a warm and dry season, combined with hail damage in August, led to a significant reduction in volume. However, the lower yield resulted in concentrated grapes with pronounced aromatic intensity. Cooler nights at the end of summer helped preserve the natural acidity, crucial for balance in this warm year.

The 2022 vintage

On August 14th, a large portion of the vineyards was hit by hail, followed by rain and then the mistral, which caused damaged grapes to dry and drop. This led to strict selection and maintained high quality. The white grape harvest began in late August. Despite the warm weather of the year, the 2022 vintage displays remarkable freshness and precision.

Color, smell and taste

In the glass, the wine presents itself as a golden yellow with bright reflections. The nose opens with citrus peel, grapefruit, and white peach, followed by spring blossom, acacia, and subtle tropical notes. On the palate, the wine is full and rounded, with an almost viscous texture, yet consistently sustained by lively acidity. The structure is layered and harmonious, with a long, refined finish that combines ripe fruit and fresh tension.

This 2022 vintage combines ripeness and richness with freshness and precision. The balance between volume and acidity structure ensures that the wine is already impressive, yet can also age effortlessly well into the next decade. It is a white Châteauneuf with both charm and serious depth.
