Delivery
You will find information here about deliveries, what happens if you're not home, and how various delivery services handle this. Especially with alcohol, due to the new Dutch Law, strict rules apply, including 18+ ID verification.
Ordering and Delivery
You can browse our extensive selection of over 2500 wines and delicacies at your convenience. Order by the bottle so you can taste and experiment freely. You can choose to have your order delivered to your home, work, or pick it up at our location in Dordrecht. If you pick up, you can benefit from discounts of up to 10%. At checkout, you can choose between the delivery services PostNL and DPD.
Time of Delivery
We want to be very transparent and don't want to make false promises, so we do not guarantee a delivery date. We are dependent on the accuracy of the delivery services and want to be honest about that. What we do promise is that if you order before 5:00 PM on working days (PostNL, and before 3:00 PM DPD), we will offer this to the delivery service of your choice the same working day. Measured over the year, more than 98% of all our shipments are delivered the next (working) day. This is significantly higher than the market average and the reason that the 'next day delivery' is very high with us is because we are not a drop-ship company, but we actually have all the wines that you can find on www.grandcruwijnen.nl in stock and for that reason we also show the stock level.
We monitor the shipments daily and receive a message if the shipment is delayed for several days. We also have to wait and see whether the delayed package is still delivered or whether the package is returned to us for reasons.
A shipment may take longer to arrive because:
- the delivery service cannot handle the rush (e.g. during the holidays);
a package is broken, causing damage to it (and other packages);
bad weather, strikes, road accidents, illness at delivery services.
Regulations for ordering and delivering alcohol:
- From July 1, 2021, 18+ ID verification is required upon delivery.
- Deliveries are only made to persons aged 18 or older with valid identification.
- Packages may no longer be delivered to neighbors.
Important:
- Keep an eye on the Track & Trace information for the current delivery status.
- A person aged 18 or older must be present at the time of delivery.
Delivery services:
- Choose from PostNL, DPD, or specialized Wine Transport.
- Pay attention to different costs and cut-off times per delivery service.
Wine delivery in the Netherlands
Regular delivery by PostNL and DPD: Your order will be delivered to your home or a pick-up location (PostNL). ID is required, and delivery to neighbors is not possible.
Delivery by specialized Wine Transport: For larger quantities or more expensive wines, specialized delivery is available. This service offers delivery in original packaging and is insured.
Pick up your wines
When you pick up, you pay no shipping costs and receive a discount of up to 10% in almost all cases. You can pick up your wines at Rijksstraatweg 24, Dordrecht. We are open on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00. Orders ready for pick-up can be collected daily.
What if I'm not home?
- An 18+ age check is always required at delivery.
- Packages will not be left without identification.

Insurance for damage
- All shipments are insured. In case of damage, you must report it within 24 hours to [email protected], with photos of the damaged package, the bottles, and the shipping label.
Pick-up location in the Netherlands and Belgium
- Use DPD pick-up points for flexible collection times.
Delivery times and costs
Orders placed on working days before 3:00 PM (DPD) or 5:00 PM (PostNL) will be shipped the same working day. The expected delivery generally takes place on the next working day, with PostNL also delivering on Saturdays.
In the Netherlands you do not pay shipping costs for orders above 100 euros, and in Belgium this is also above 100 euros. For orders lower than 100 euros you pay a contribution to the shipping costs of 6.95 euros.
Shipping to other countries
Grandcruwijnen delivers wines to customers across Europe. For international deliveries, the following rates per country apply as a contribution towards the shipping and insurance costs.

Changes by Grandcruwijnen to the delivery service I selected
We will always try to respect your choice of delivery service and in 99.9% of cases, your chosen carrier will be the one to deliver your package, but there may be several reasons why we decide to send your order with a different service. Reasons could include:
- Due to strikes, understaffing, or restrictions during busy periods, carriers such as PostNL and DPD may impose limitations like "we can only print 50 shipping labels per day" or "we are not picking up your packages today."
- You choose a delivery option not intended for your order. For example, you order 5 different bottles but choose to have them sent in original packaging, for which we offer a special shipping option (Wine transport with courier in original packaging). This option is only intended for orders in packaging units (often 6 bottles per type), which can then be sent in the original box or case.
- During busy periods (e.g., around Christmas), the number of orders may be such that we balance them to ensure timely delivery for everyone.
- If we see from performance data that the delivery service is not meeting agreements and consistently fails to deliver our orders on time.
In all cases, you will receive a Track&Trace notification from the delivery service before the delivery (often the evening before), indicating a time slot for delivery. For all delivery services, the 18+ identification requirement applies. By law, deliveries cannot be made to neighbors in your absence, and packages cannot be left unattended.
