Description
It is in a constant search for quality and with the support of highly qualified and dedicated teams that the Bonnie family passionately develops the wines of Malartic. Vintage after vintage, the wines of Châteaux Malartic-Lagravière brilliantly express the nobility and identity of their terroirs.
The 2020 vintage of the Malartic Lagraviere Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé de Graves is a blend of 50.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47.8% Merlot and 1.8% Cabernet Franc. The Château Malartic-Lagravière Rouge has very complex aromas of dark berries, mushrooms, earth, flowers and incense and some mineral notes. In the mouth full bodied with very fine, refined tannins. The finish is very, very long and persistent with subtle and complex flavours. This ensures beauty for decades. Give it a little more time to mature further (from 2025).

The deep purple-black 2020 Malartic Lagraviere leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of Bing cherries, black raspberries, ripe plums and boysenberries, plus suggestions of pencil lead, wild sage and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, the palate has lovely energy and freshness, offering a solid backbone of grainy tannins to support the lively red and black fruit layers, finishing savory.
The tentative blend is 50.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47.8% Merlot, and 1.8% Cabernet Franc, with only 38% of production going into the grand vin. The alcohol is 14% this year.
Commencing with the 2020 vintage, the estate has chosen a new bottle for the grand cru and second vin, highlighted by an engraved ship, the symbol of the estate.

Ch. Malartic Lagravière, together with Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, Dom. de Chevalier and Ch. Haut Bailly is one of the leaders in the Pessac Léognan appellation. Thanks to the Belgian owner Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, who invested immensely, and the advice of Michel Rolland, the cru has improved spectacularly over the last 5 years. The magnificent terroir located in the heart of Léognan naturally also plays a major role.
