A vintage with all the hallmarks of the great years. The freshness and balance of the vintage are combined with dazzling fruit and a velvety texture. This vintage was characterized by rather extreme weather conditions. The spring was particularly wet,
However, mild weather in late May and early June ensured good flowering. July brought two heatwaves, followed in both cases by favorable rain. The summer was sunny with a classic Bordeaux August. Thanks to a fantastic late season, the tannins of the Cabernets were able to continue ripening and reach optimal maturity. The white wines present exceptional quality. The cool August period produced excellently balanced grapes that beautifully accentuate the aromatic profiles.

Malartic's white wines have traditionally been known as great wines for aging, developing a complex aromatic palate and excellent minerality over the years. They are pure, precise, well-structured wines with a rich array of aromas and flavors, and a certain roundness accompanied by a delightful liveliness. Vintage after vintage, they are characterized by balance and elegance. They belong among the jewels of Bordeaux.

The Château Malartic-Lagravière Pessac-Léognan Blanc (Grand Cru Classé de Graves) is a blend of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon aged sur lie in oak for 14 months. The freshness and balance of this vintage, combined with the brilliance of the fruit and velvety texture, and a generous yet complex tannin structure, reflect Malartic's true signature. Aromas of grilled pineapple, clove, lemon peel, lime, and mango. White pepper, stone chips, and also some cedar. It is medium to full-bodied with bright acidity. Layered and very long. A serious white. Needs time to open up to show its true potential. Drink from 2026. The Malartic-Lagravière Blanc and Rouge are among the absolute standouts of the vintage – not only do these wines stand out within Pessac-Léognan, but they are among the best of Bordeaux 2023 in their price range!

Ch. Malartic Lagravière, together with Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, Dom. de Chevalier and Ch. Haut Bailly is one of the leaders in the Pessac Léognan appellation. Thanks to the Belgian owner Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, who invested immensely, and the advice of Michel Rolland, the cru has improved spectacularly over the last 5 years. The magnificent terroir located in the heart of Léognan naturally also plays a major role.
