Description
One of Spain's best wines. A modern accessible Rioja with 16 months of wood maturation. Ready to drink now but can also be kept in the cellar for another 15 years. A nose of red fruit, coffee, roasted nuts. Supple in the mouth, earthy, ripe red fruit, a touch of pepper, cocoa and nice ripe tannins. Beautiful finish. The Tempranillo grapes for the Roda I (1) Reserva come from head-pruned Tempranillo vines over 30 years old around the capital of the Rioja - Haro, which ferment in large oak barrels with their own yeasts and are transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, where the wine matures for 16 months. It is a thoroughly modern Rioja. Give it a year or 5-6 to develop a bit more of its incipient complexity and enjoy it for the next 10-15 years. Very elegant and refined - Best decanted for the next 5 years. The 2019 is considered one of the finest vintages of this wine. See also the reviews (click on the links) of Parker and Suckling.
FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. You will see your discount immediately when you choose Pick up in Checkout page. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking. Click here for our address.

in the 2019 Roda I, I found notes that I had found in many 2019s—ripe black fruit, an earthy touch and a touch of dark spices. It's medium to full-bodied, combining power, concentration, ripeness and elegance in a clean and modern style. It matured in French oak barrels, 50% of them new, but it’s not really noticeable, for 16 months. 128,034 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.
The super reliable Roda continues with their focus on R&D (they allocate 7% of their income to it!) and are producing their stable range with the addition of a white from 2019, now in its second year. They work 120 hectares of vineyard, 70 of them owned, mostly in Haro and around it, producing 400,000 bottles per year.

Immense depth and exuberance here. Fine spices, dark plums, fresh blackberries, blueberries, graphite and crushed stones. Naturally concentrated, broad, vertical and full-bodied, but still fluid and linear. Crumbled, dusty tannins grow on the palate, leading it to a juicy, tightly wound finish that goes on and on. One of the best Roda I? Drinkable now upon decanting, but much better from 2025.

The 2019 Roda I is 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano sourced from Haro in Rioja Alta. Aged 16 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% second use), this deep purple wine offers an intense oaky aroma. Notes of cherry and blackberry meet tutti-frutti, caramel, hard candy and sandalwood. Dry, rich and flavorful on the palate, this red offers a compact and juicy flow that lingers on the fruit—a delicate, rich Rioja.
