Description
Former Italian motocross champion Stefano Perrone, from Castiglione Tinella in the heart of Piedmont's Moscato region, makes exquisite wines. Stefano's specialty is the light, sparkling dessert wines made from the Moscato grape and the beautiful red and white wines made with Piedmont grapes.
Stefano Perrone makes the Gi from Chardonnay and Moscato grapes, and in some years also with a little Viognier. It is a dry white wine with abundant aromas, derived from the Moscato grape. The Chardonnay provides the full flavor, with aromas of tropical fruit, Muscat grapes, and wildflowers. Fresh and round on the palate, with juicy fruit and a clean finish. The vineyards originate in Castiglione Tinella. The harvest begins with a strict manual selection, choosing the best bunches of Muscat and Chardonnay grapes. After picking, the grapes are placed in small containers in the cellar. The team works quickly to minimize the time needed to preserve the skin integrity and protect the aromas. After fermentation in steel tanks, the wine is aged for 3-4 months in a tank with its own natural yeasts.
The Elio Perrone Gi Bianco is lively, aromatic, and exuberant, developing notes of serious complexity over time. Exotic fruit, peach, sage, and acacia honey notes develop over time, revealing aromas of mineral and dried fruit. A subtle, enveloping structure, with acidity that creates vibrancy on the palate. Elio Perrone Gi has excellent aging potential, enhancing its complexity from the second year onward and further increasing over 4-5 years. Delicious with raw fish, paella, white meat, and spicy dishes (saffron).

In Italy you don't just leave the family business. So Stefano Perrone, former Italian motocross champion, also went overboard. In the Piedmont, this family has been making delicious Moscato wines for generations. The 13 hectares of vineyards on the hills of Castiglione Tinella are mainly planted with barbera, moscato and brachetto (an almost forgotten native grape, also called the red moscato). Winemaker Stefano Perrone, since he took over in 1989, has ensured that the quality of the grapes has risen considerably and modernized the techniques in the wine cellar.
