The Casa Rojo Enemigo Mio is a 100% Garnacha grape from a single 4-hectare vineyard at the foot of the Sierra de La Pila, located just outside the winery in the Tierra de Murcia region. The vineyard faces north and lies on clay soil. The Jumilla 2022 vintage was generally very dry, with a rather hot summer following a dry winter and spring in La Raja. This led to significant stress on the vines and considerable overripeness of the bunches, making the right harvest dates crucial. Therefore, the hand-harvest of Garnacha grapes in 12-kilo boxes began very early on August 25th and was also picked at night, ultimately receiving the grapes in excellent health and record time at the winery within 24 hours. Less fruit than usual, but in perfect condition. After harvest, the wine ferments for a long period at a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, with malolactic fermentation in 11,000-liter French oak foudres, followed by another four months of stabilization before bottling. Thanks to the right harvest timing, as well as the altitude and northern exposure, this Enemigo Mio has a very refined alcohol content of 13.5%.

The Casa Rojo Enemigo Mio is a wine with a beautiful cherry red color. The nose reveals intense youthful notes of wild red fruits and licorice, accompanied by hints of balsamic and menthol. In the background, there are very light notes of toasted wood, elegant and subtle, always accompanied by the fruit as the main character. Fresh notes of wild herbs and spices. On the palate, it is a supple wine, again very fresh and long, with surprising acidity and pleasant tannins.

ABOUT CASA ROJO

"THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE" LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo, they make wines that José Luis and Laura identify with. They are fortunate and privileged to be able to produce in the regions where they have their roots and admire the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and Monastrell in their Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, they have also added unique white grapes from Ribera del Galicia, such as Verdejo, Albariño, and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear: "A wine should be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, and the local climate."

Casa Rojo has been operating since 2010, making it a relatively young company. However, its wines are now available in over 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and more, and demand exceeds supply. This isn't surprising, as the quality of the wines, the stories behind them, and the presentation are truly unique.
