2024 Gil Family Estates Honoro Vera Monastrell BIO
Traditional fermentation is followed by a short aging period in French oak barriques (3-5 months). The wine possesses great aromatic complexity and length with ripe blackberries, smoke, and flowers. This mouth-filling Monastrell, with aromas of blueberries, herbs, and medium acidity, is a full-bodied wine offering excellent value for money. At Juan Gil Wines, everything is sustainably or organically produced.
The Honoro Vera Blanco Verdejo is an accessible, fresh, and aromatic white wine that perfectly captures the modern character of Spanish wines. Straw yellow in the glass, the nose is unmistakably Verdejo. Crisp, juicy notes with white fruit, pear, and melon on the nose, along with hints of green, as befits a Verdejo. The palate is particularly delicious thanks to its fruity character, yet with a pleasant acidity without being overly sweet, making it a well-balanced and enjoyable drink. Its fruity flavor profile and lively acidity make it an ideal choice for warm days, light dishes, or simply to enjoy as an aperitif. An excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality, affordable white wine.
A beautiful Juan Gil gift box suitable for two standard-sized bottles of wine. Naturally, it's especially suited for wines from the Juan Gil range. The box is suitable for Bordeaux-sized bottles of 0.75 liters.
The beautiful bodega Juan Gil was founded in 1916 and has been owned by the Gil family for generations. Unlike the majority of Jumilla, the vineyards are located on the plateau between the mountains. As a result, Juan Gil benefits from a more temperate climate compared to the wineries located in the valley. The metamorphosis on Juan Gil's domain is truly spectacular.
Where Juan Gil was always one of the leading wineries of the Jumilla region, today it marks itself more than ever as the top winery of the region. This is mainly due to the constant investments of owner Miguel Gil. His wines from the Jumilla region, which was synonymous with mass and basic, now rank among the very best in Spain. And what is beautiful, not only the top cuvées but any wine with the Gil signature is a pleasure. In addition to the well-known and famous wines of Juan Gil under the name El Nido and Clio, the family has beautiful domains including Pedrera, the 12 Meses (silver Label)| and the L'Altre de Can Blau. All in all, beautiful wines which are all organically grown and produced and have an excellent price/quality ratio
Miguel Gil also owns the top estate El Nido and out of respect and love for his region (and great wine!), is choosing quality over quantity in Jumilla, which had been undiscovered for years. For the mini-project of Bodegas El Nido, he calls on the Australian top winemaker Chris Ringland (at Parker perfect for 100/100…). At this small Bodega, 2 wines are made: Clio & El Nido. The 16 hectares of Monastrell vineyards, which are 60 years old, are situated on terraces that are oriented to the northeast. In addition, 25 years ago, 12 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted in the same region on the north-facing hills. Today, these unique vineyards offer top-quality grapes that are magnificently refined by the Gil-Ringland duo into Spain's most aristocratic wines.
Organic/organic viticulture and sustainability are important elements in the vision of the Gil Family. Click here to see a nice video overview: Gil Family Estates - Video
