Description
Sacha Lichine settled in La Motte-en-Provence in 2006 and bought Château d'Esclans from a Swedish family. Sacha is the son of the world-famous winemaker and writer Alexis Lichine. It may sound arrogant, but his goal was to make the best rosé in the world, which could compete with the top Montrachets. To realize this ambition, he left the vinification to Patrick Léon, who was the winemaker of Mouton Rothschild for 23 years, with the result that Whispering Angel, for example, has been sold out in no time for years. At the end of November, Château d'Esclans was elected 'The European Winery of The Year 2014' by the magazine Wine Enthusiast. It is the first time in history that a winery that mainly produces rosé wines has been awarded this 'Oscar for wines'.
The Pale rosé by Sascha Lichine is a new rosé made from Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan, this authentic rosé from Provence is a playful, trendy, energetic 'sister' of Whispering Angel. The grapes are picked in the cool from sunrise to avoid premature fermentation and to preserve freshness. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel. The Chateau D'Esclans The Pale is expressive both inside and out, as it shows a great aromatic freshness on the nose, followed by more subtle, fruity notes on the palate. The colorful and playful label is called "almost as perfect as the rosé itself".
