Juan Gil, a family business founded in 1916 in the heart of Jumilia, is a champion of promoting Jumilia as a top wine region. This has led to several generations of winemakers emerging over the past decades to showcase the incredible potential of this region. True to its roots, Juan Gil has seamlessly blended tradition and cutting-edge technology with respect for the environment. Juan Gil is also the creator of the famous Clio and the world-renowned El Nido. The Celler Can Blau project aims to develop a line of high-quality wines from indigenous grape varieties (Syrah, Monastrell, Grenache, and Cargigan). This cuvée showcases the work of Australian winemaker Sarah Morris and is a
The Can Blau is one of Cellers Can Blau's finest wines and is a blend of Cariñena, Syrah, and Garnacha, aged for 12 months in oak barriques. The Cariñena and Garnacha vines used for these wines are estimated to be 25 to 40 years old. The Garnacha vineyards are located at an altitude of approximately 750 meters in the Cornudella de Montsant area on slate soils, Cariñena vineyards in Darmós and Masroig on clay soils, and Syrah vineyards on limestone soils.
The Can Blau is a full-bodied wine. On the nose, we encounter notes of wood smoke, cigar box, incense, lavender, black cherry, and plums, followed by a full-bodied, round, and dense wine with excellent grip and length. It's a very complete wine for those who appreciate a full-bodied, robust, yet elegant wine. Absolutely a lot of wine for the price, and this Can Blau is an excellent accompaniment to a variety of dishes, such as rice, pasta (noodles, spaghetti, macaroni), vegetables, mushrooms, stew, sausage, pork, roast meat, red and/or white meat with sauces, grilled meat, and short or medium-fat cheeses.

Wijnhuis
If the yolk of an egg represents the Priorat, then the egg white is the Denominacion de Origin 'Montsant'. In horseshoe shape around the famous Priorat region. For several years now, the enterprising Gil family (famous with their Clio, Silver and Blue Label and of course the iconic El Nido) has owned the beautiful winery Can Blau here. The 35-year-old vineyards are planted with the typical autochthonous grape varieties: Mazuela, Syrah and Garnacha. The wines receive unanimously very high ratings from the international wine journalists.
Can Blau has the typical scarlet color of the red wines from the Priorat region, where the Montsant Designation of Origin is located. The Can Blau wines are made from the typical Montasant/Priorat grapes coming from different terroirs and all this together gives the uniqueness of the wines of Can Blau. The tannic Cariñena grape is harvested from the valleys of the clay soils. The tasty Syrah grapes grow on the steep limestone slopes. The Garnacha grape sprouts from the old and dark slate of the Priorat. The allure created by the combination of these three varieties in different proportions leads to the red wines of Cellers Can Blau.
