Fresh elegance from Provence in every bottle of Aix Blanc.

The history of Aix Blanc: a modern winery with deep roots

Aix Blanc is a leading winery in the heart of Provence, founded with a clear vision: to produce fresh, lively and characterful wines that do justice to the unique terroir of the region. Although the house is relatively young compared to other big names, Aix Blanc has managed to position itself in a short time as a quality reference in the category of premium rosé and white wines from the South of France.

The winery was founded in the early 21st century by passionate wine lovers with a background in international wine trade and agronomy. Their goal: to combine a modern approach with traditional viticulture in one of the most beautiful wine regions of Europe.

The location and climate of Provence: ideal conditions for white wine

Aix Blanc is located just outside Aix-en-Provence, on a vast estate at an altitude of 420 metres. This location offers the vineyards protection from extreme heat, while the constant wind ensures healthy vines and natural cooling.

The Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters is ideal for grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Rolle (Vermentino) and Grenache Blanc. The soil consists of chalky clay and slate, which contributes to the freshness and minerality of the wine.

What wines does Aix Blanc make: focus on freshness and balance

Aix Blanc produces mainly white and rosé wines, each with a recognizable, elegant style. The Aix Blanc white is a blend of local grape varieties, with aromas of citrus, white flowers and a light spiciness. In the mouth it is fresh, dry and lively with a refined acidity.

The rosé wines of Aix Blanc, including the popular AIX Rosé , are refined, light salmon pink in color and offer a refined combination of red fruit, herbs and minerality. Thanks to the balanced profile and drinkability, these wines can be used in a wide range of ways, both as an aperitif and with light dishes.

Why Aix Blanc is so appreciated by wine lovers

Wine lovers appreciate Aix Blanc for the consistent quality, fresh style and refined character of its wines. The winery succeeds in combining modern winemaking techniques with respect for nature. Manual harvesting, sustainable viticulture and careful selection of grapes ensure that each bottle meets high quality standards.

In addition, Aix Blanc plays well into the current preferences of consumers: easily digestible wines, pure in style, with a distinct but accessible taste. This makes the wines very popular with both novice and experienced wine drinkers.

1. Grilled sea bream with lemon and fennel

Sea bream is a mildly flavoured fish with a fine texture. The fresh acidity in the wine brings out the delicate flavours of the fish beautifully, while the citrus and fennel perfectly complement the floral and aniseed aromas of the wine.

2. Salad with goat cheese, apple and walnuts

The creaminess of the goat cheese and the fresh, juicy character of the apple form a harmonious whole with the acidity and fruit profile of the Aix Blanc. Walnuts give an earthy undertone that contrasts nicely with the freshness of the wine.

3. Pasta with zucchini, lemon and Parmesan cheese

A simple dish with bright flavours that complement the citrusy freshness and light spiciness of the wine. The Parmesan cheese provides a hint of umami that is captured by the wine without being too heavy.

4. Roasted chicken with Provencal herbs and lemon

The juicy structure of chicken and the spicy character of thyme, oregano and rosemary, for example, fit seamlessly with the fresh and aromatic profile of Aix Blanc. The addition of lemon enhances the lively acids in the wine.

5. Quiche with leek, spinach and ricotta

The soft, creamy filling of this quiche is nicely balanced by the acidity of the wine. The green notes of spinach and leek complement the freshness and minerality of Aix Blanc, while ricotta provides a soft, neutral base.

6. Shrimp with garlic, olive oil and parsley

Seafood pairs well with white wine, especially when lightly seasoned and briefly fried. The fresh style of the Aix Blanc contrasts nicely with the juiciness of the shrimp, while parsley and garlic enhance the spicy character.

What wine lover hasn't ever mused about owning your own vineyard? The enthusiastic Dutchman, wine connoisseur and enthusiast Eric Kurver succeeded. He has been living in the South of France with his wife and three children for years and is the lucky owner of the AIX wine estate.

His wine estate covers no less than 85 hectares, of which 75 hectares are planted with vines with the grape varieties Cinsault, Carignan, Grenache, Counoise, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah for red and rosé. Rolle, Ugni Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc for the white wines.

About 20 kilometers east of the capital of Provence, Aix en Provence, at an altitude of 350 meters, we find the 136-year-old domain here in a beautiful rolling landscape. The original name is Domaine La Grande Séouve, but since Eric took over, the name has been renamed Domaine Saint Aix.

The vineyard is located on a beautiful gently sloping terrain with a small ridge on one side and bordering a forest on the other. The Mistral from the cooler north occasionally passes here and functions as a natural protection against any diseases in the vineyard. More than 2200 hours of sunshine per year give the grapes a lot of heat during the day, the cooler nights ensure a balanced ripening process.

Eric mainly produces rosé, which is of course not surprising in Provence. This has been the birthplace of rosé for 2600 years. That rosé is sold under the name AIX. A beautiful slim bottle with an assembly of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Counoise. This results in a fresh, dry and almost pale and salmon-like rosé with a very pleasant long finish. Here you can taste Provence; berry fruit, plums, caramel and a little spicy but very balanced taste, sun and ripeness in a delicious glass. This rosé can compete with the very best…..

Chilled at about 10 degrees, this rosé is excellent as an aperitif or with a light lunch with fish, salad or with tapas, white meat and tasty pastas. Gone are the days when rosé was only drunk on the terrace in the summer. Rosé can easily be drunk all year round and also tastes great with Asian cuisine.

AIX rosé won the Gold Medal in 2010 and 2011 at the prestigious “Concours Générale Agricole de Paris”, the largest wine tasting in France by experts. The inspectors of the French Ministry of Agriculture confirm the unique quality of AIX Rosé. A unique achievement by Eric and his winemaker - oenologist Olivier Nasles, this has never happened before.
