Château la Mission Haut-Brion is located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, ranked among the Crus Classés in the Graves classification of 1953. La Mission Haut-Brion is the sister company of Château Haut-Brion. The winery belongs to the Graves wine region, in the municipality of Talence with an additional estate in Pessac. The winery also produces a second wine from younger vines, La Chapelle de la Mission, since the 1991 vintage, and the dry white wine Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc since the merger of Château Laville Haut-Brion in 2010.
The vineyards extend over 21 hectares between Pessac and Léognan. The white Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc has an annual production of 500 to 700 cases.
Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2023 Blanc
In the Vineyard
The harvest of white grapes started on August 24, during sweltering heat. As in previous years, the grapes were picked only in the morning and transported in refrigerated vehicles to protect the aroma precursors. This special care was combined with meticulous sorting in the vineyard and in the barrel upon arrival. The first juices from white grapes promised a fresh vintage, with a beautiful crisp liveliness.
Color and Smell
The wine has a very beautiful yellow color. The first nose is complex and moderately intense. When rolling, a ripe fruitiness emerges, with hints of white-fleshed peach and a slightly lemony touch, followed by delicate floral notes.
Flavor profile
The lively, tantalizing first taste is a surprise given the ripeness suggested by the aromas. The wine is juicy in the middle of the mouth and ends full and powerful. The finish is long and never seems to want to disappear from the palate. This Mission is a classic from this estate.
2023 Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc Tasting Notes
The 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc offers generous amounts of lemon oil, spices and ripe orchard fruit with a hint of spring flowers. The wine is medium to full bodied, fleshy and broad, with a rich, aromatic palate. It ends with an ethereal, powerful finish that carries elegant white fruit notes.

From: The Dalmatian Vintage: Bordeaux 2023 (Apr 2024)
The 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is driven by the Sauvignon Blanc (65%) on the nose: Granny Smith apples, kiwi fruit, slate and light spicy aromas. There’s very fine delineation, but I err toward the more nuanced Haut-Brion Blanc. The palate is lively on the entry with a touch of white pepper, very good tension and ample energy. Conference pear mixes with melon and grassy notes toward the finish. This will provide immediate pleasure over the next 20 years, though Haut-Brion Blanc has the intellectual heft.
