Whaauw - Top Rioja. Limited availability. According to Parker we have here a sexy, kinky, exceptionaly perfumed. What more can we add. The Rioja Coleccion Privada is a pure Tempranillo from 2 vineyards in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Jarrarte and Valgrande, planted in 1957 and 1959 respectively. The 2 vineyards are fermented separately, Jarrarte with a traditional maceration and matured in French barrels. All the barrels are new, and the wine matures in them for 16-18 months. The Rioja Coleccion Privada has a very ripe nose with notes of rotten violets, strawberries, plums and dark cherries complemented by a creamy layer of oak with spices and nutmeg. The taste is opulent, round and juicy with lots of tannins and moderate acidity and a beautiful finish. Only 11,000 bottles produced.

Year after year, high scores from all wine reviewers and always well above 90 points.

The vineyards are only 4 hectares in total and have calcareous clay soils; an abundance of gravel and small round stones on the surface. Planting year: 1957 and 1959. Environmentally integrated agricultural cultivation, with viticulture that respects the environment, according to the biorhythms of the plant. Organic fertilization and strictly hand-picking of the bunches. Second selection in the estate by means of a double sorting table.

The Spanish winery Sierra Cantabria was founded in 1957 by Guillermo Eguren and is one of Hermanos Eguren's beautiful wineries. Sierra Cantabria is located in the Rioja in a unique location between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. The Sierra Cantabria Mountains (1200m.) And the River Ebro (350m.) Provide a special microclimate with Mediterranean and continental features - mild winters and mild summers, unique to wine growing.
On the other hand, the thermal summer jump (intense heat during the day with fresh night temperatures) increases the polyphenol content, which makes for excellent quality wines with a distinctive character.

The vineyards of Bodega Sierra Cantabria are mainly located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, an area very well known for wine growing.
The Tempranillo variety predominates, along with small amounts of Garnacha, Viura and 'Hairy Tempranillo', all of which are grown in vineyards about 35 years old, although there are also plots up to 70 years old.The harvest is carried out by hand every year, paying special attention to the rigorous selection of the grapes that are the soul of the wine, in optimal condition and in perfect ripening conditions. The careful harvest is followed by a thorough separation of the bunches, which is done on a selection table at the entrance of the winery. Winemaking is aimed at minimal intervention in the winery to fully respect the character of the terroir
