Description
Three young but already very famous winemakers - Fernando Garcia ( Bodegas Marañones ), Daniel Gómez Jimenez Landi ( Bodegas Jimenez Landi ) and Marc Isart ( Bodegas Bernaveleva ) - are responsible for the Command G. with the intention to further develop the Madrid Region's Grenache grape. All three winemakers make Top Grenaches under their individual labels that can compete with the famous Chateaneuf wines, especially when you take the price into account. The area is ideal for Grenache (high, warm during the day with considerable cooling, large limestone soil).
Like all Comando G wines, these are produced organically without tricks. Low yields from mainly granite terroirs in the Sierra de Gredos. Maceration and fermentation without destemming. Aging in barrels and foeders, never new. The elegance of the Grenache must prevail and not the oak. The Comando G La Bruja de Rozas has a beautiful bright red color. Light nuances. In the nose a lot of red fruit type cherry - kriek and discreet spiciness, even some green herbs and Asian spices. In the mouth fine but still firm, not on extract but rather an infusion wine with a beautiful complexity and mineral accents. Juicy, easy-drinking wine for advanced users. An excellent and more affordable alternative for lovers of southern (top) Rhône wines. Full, not too tannic, smooth and deliciously spicy. A wine with charm.

There is a change in the 2022 La Bruja. It is no longer a village wine from Rozas de Puerto Real. In 2022, it is a regional wine, and in 2023, it also will be a regional wine but from Ávila, from the Cebreros appellation, as they are focusing their work there. It's a juicy and aromatic Garnacha, very much in the Comando G style, with good ripeness, 14% alcohol and more in the style of the 2020. It has a medium-bodied palate and a sapid finish with contained ripeness and fine granite granularity. They macerated less to adapt to the vintage, and it partly fermented with less skins. It's a more approachable La Bruja, expressive, open and more fruit-driven, more in a Morgon style. 56,487 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2023.
I tasted the latest bottled wines from Comando G that are hitting the market now, the regional and village wines from 2022 and the single-vineyard 2021s. The two vintages are extremely different, a more Mediterranean 2022 and a cooler, more Atlantic 2021. This is the finest collection of wines I have ever tasted from Comando G, each of them with a different personality, more and more evident each year.

Their vines are rooted in mainly granite soil vineyards at an altitude of at least 800 meters and are between 50 and 80 years old. Comando G was the name
in Spain for one of those Japanese cartoon series of the 80s. Daniel Landi and his friends have used this and Comando G stands for Comado Grenache where their mission is to make the best Grenache in the world. This is one of the most exciting new projects in Spain!
