The origins of Château de Meursault date back to the 11th century. The château has a rich history and has had many owners. In 1973, the château was purchased by André Boisseaux. At the end of 2012, this Burgundian gem was acquired by the Halley family, who continue to guide and manage these beautiful vineyards to this day. Unusually for the region, the house was named after the village where the now world-famous wines bearing the Meursault name originate. The estate's vineyards are spread over 60 hectares in the Côte de Beaune, spanning villages such as Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Corton, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. The impressive cellars of Château Meursault date back to the 12th, 14th, and 16th centuries and were owned by the monks. These cellars can hold 700,000 bottles and more than 2,000 barrels of wine.
The Clos du Château is the estate's signature. It receives special attention due to its location in the château's park and is considered the ambassador of Château de Meursault wines. It is vinified and aged like all Château de Meursault's great white wines. Each plot is pressed, vinified, and aged separately, reflecting all the characteristic features of each terroir. After pressing, the juice rests for 12 hours and then undergoes alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels. The duration of oak barrel aging depends on the vintage and the terroir of each individual wine. The wines of Château de Meursault are of exceptional quality and are ideally suited to accompany festive and gastronomic dinners.
The Château de Meursault "Clos du Château" comes from the vineyard in front of the château, where the vines were planted in 1973. The rich vines, therefore, provide extra concentration and flavor. This wine is best paired with fish in a rich sauce and grilled vegetables. The color is brilliant yellow. The nose is expressive with citrus notes. The palate is fresh and generous with beautiful, fine oak notes that add length to the palate.
