Description
The Maranges area, which mainly grows Pinot Noir plus some Chardonnay, forms a link between the Côte-d'Or and the Saône-et-Loire. The vineyards are intertwined with those of neighbouring Santenay, with which it shares a number of well-established Premiers Crus. The vineyards are mostly south/south-west facing and lie at an altitude of 240-400 metres. Depending on the location, some brown limestone soils and chalk marls can also be found. The wines from the appellation in Burgundy still have an excellent price/quality ratio........ Read more under the link: Appellation
The Maranges Blanc Sur le Bois has a delicate golden color in glass with white flowers in the nose (hawthorn, acacia, honeysuckle) with the years it gets tones of flint and honey that contribute to its personality. The Maranges Blanc is a smooth and subtle elegant white Burgundy, fresh fruit, light butter due to the aging in oak and above all perfectly balanced.
FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking. Click here for our address and contact information
ABOUT SANTENAY
Santenay is located just south of Chassagne Montrachet and is the southernmost village of Burgundy's famous "Cote D'or" ("Golden Coast") region. The etymology of Santenay is most likely linked to the word "Sanctus", which refers to a sacred place before the Christian era. The appellation, with a total of 140 ha of vines, consists of three areas, one next to Chassagne, one around the village and one just south of the village. It is now mainly a Pinot Noir appellation, but the Chardonnay reveals great potential there.
