The Encruzado Reserva Quinta da Falorca consists for 95% of the most beautiful white grape from the Daô - the Encruzado. This grape has the ability to maintain almost a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. It produces dry, fruity and aromatic wines and is one of Portugal's top white grape varieties. This grape has an extraordinary aging potential and we see that with this white wine from Quinta da Falorca because this wine can remain in your cellar or wine fridge until 2033 without any problems. The wine has matured in new French oak and has a perfect alcohol percentage of 13% and this makes the wine super elegant.

This is a fine Encruzado, persistent and focused, with good acidity and concentration. The oak here is supportive and not dominating so this also retains its purity. This Branco from Portugal has developed beautiful aromas of roses, violets, but also lemon and minerality. The richness is impressive and the great acidity always leaves a nice tension. The Encruzado Reserva is an impressive white wine with a great price/quality ratio.

The wine receives high ratings year-in-year-out. The 2021 was only released in early June 2022 and has a drinking window of 10-15 years plus and they have recently started releasing older (beautiful) years at Encruzao (recently the 2015) which they have aged even longer in their cellars. In his younger years drinking from a large (burgundy) glass. We will not deny that we also like to drink Falorca wines. A very high level, elegance at its best and price quality is excellent.

Vineyard for 2021 Quinta da Falorca Encruzado Reserva Blanco

Located in Pindelos or Silgueiros, Quinta da Falorca is the reference model and top wine house from the Portuguese Dão. No volumes but only quality. It is therefore quite difficult to get a Quinta da Falorca and especially their high-end wines. This is due to a number of factors, namely:

  • unprecedented fine wines
  • made in very small quantities
  • and still very affordable

Quinta da Falorca is one of the secret heroes of the international wine world: winegrowers such as the quality-striving Carlos Figueiredo, who values his native Dão and the local terroir, but also produces world-class wines. Among his wines, wine lovers will find the individuality that is often lost in times of increasing globalization of the wine taste: authentic, traditionally prepared wines with a radiant regional character, made from indigenous grape varieties in a limited edition.
