Description
Ranked as a Pauillac Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, Château Lynch-Moussas was acquired by Jean Castéja in 1919 and has been one of the jewels of the family properties for a century. Passed down to his son Émile, then by him to his daughter Chantal and his son Philippe, the estate has benefited from the attention of each generation of the Castéja family, who have nurtured, developed, modernized and improved this Grand Cru d'. Excellence. The Château Lynch-Moussas vineyard extends over 62 hectares in the Pauillac and Haut-Médoc appellations. Consisting of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, it has been nurtured with meticulous care for 100 years, enabling it to perform today at the highest levels alongside the greatest Pauillac growth.
The Château Lynch-Moussas is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 72% and Merlot 28%. Colored deep garnet purple, the Lynch Moussas pops out of the glass with vibrant red and black currant scents, followed by baked blackberries, chocolate box and camphor hints and a hint of smoked meat. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with muscular, ripe black fruit, supported by firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, with a long and savory finish.
James Suckling 94-95/100 : “This is a very structured red with lots of blackberry, currant, walnut and graphite. Full bodied and long. Nice chewiness. 72% cabernet sauvignon, the rest merlot”.
Markus Del Monego 94/100 : “Dark purple color with violet hue and black core. Sophisticated nose with fragrant aroma reminiscent of mulberries, blackberries and blackcurrants, hints of black currant spurs and cocoa in the background. On the palate well-structured with flavorful character and freshness, ripe and velvety tannins, excellent length”.
