EXCLUSIVE - EXPECTED SPRING 2028

Château Lynch-Moussas is a Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac with a long history within the Médoc. In recent years, the château has clearly made strides in quality and precision, with a style that is becoming increasingly refined. The focus is on pure fruit, controlled extraction, and balanced oak aging. This results in a classic Pauillac with modern finesse. You can find more information about this winery in the Winery tab.

Origin and terroir

The vineyards are situated in Pauillac on gravelly soils that provide good drainage and structure. The year 2025 saw a mild winter and an early start to the growing season, followed by a dry and warm summer with distinct temperature differences between day and night. This ensured even ripening and the preservation of freshness. The harvest took place early under favorable conditions, resulting in grapes with both concentration and aromatic precision.

Grapes and vineyard management

The blend consists of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure, freshness, and classic Pauillac characteristics, while Merlot adds roundness and softness. The vineyards are managed with great care and are certified to a high level of environmental care, which contributes to the balance and quality of the fruit.

Vinification and aging

After a short cold maceration, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks for approximately ten days. Extraction is carefully controlled to keep aroma, color, and tannins in balance. Following fermentation, malolactic conversion and plot-by-plot selection take place to compose the final blend. The wine then ages for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, a significant portion of which are new, ensuring structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Color, smell and taste

The wine has a deep, intense color. On the nose, fresh and ripe aromas of red fruit such as raspberry emerge, combined with elegant toasted notes and a subtle hint of menthol. On the palate, the wine is dense and layered, with a powerful structure and fine tannins. The finish is long and precise, with a combination of freshness and ripeness that creates balance and tension.

Style and character

The 2025 Lynch-Moussas shows a clear evolution towards greater finesse and precision. The wine is silky smooth in texture but retains a firm structure. Antonio Galloni of Vinous emphasizes the refinement and balance, describing it as a wine with charm, precision, and clear class. The combination of polished tannins and fresh acidity creates an elegant and classic Pauillac style with a modern character.

Volume

The 2025 vintage is characterized by early and even ripening, resulting in wines with freshness and aromatic precision. The wine is rated 94-96 points and, according to Vinous, shows a clear step forward in quality. The structure is still firm and calls for aging, but the balance and finesse are already visible. The drinking window is from approximately 2033 to 2050.
