The Casa Rojo Alexander vs. The Ham Factory is a 100% Tinto Fino, also known as Tempranillo, and comes from vineyards in La Horra and Hontoria de Valdearados. The average altitude of the vineyards is between 850 and 900 meters, all in the province of Burgos. The grapes come from old vineyards, over 60 years old and some even over 100 years old. Yields from these old vineyards are very low, but the quality is excellent. After being hand-harvested, the wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels and then undergoes extensive bottle aging. The wine is therefore classified as a Reserva.

The Alexander vs. The Ham Factory Reserva has a beautiful cherry-red color. This beautiful Ribera del Duero is very complex and a wine that, with age, releases a palette of aromas such as black cherry, blackberry, and a mineral sensation, accompanied by soft toasted notes. The wine is full-bodied with a surprisingly velvety taste and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. The wine has a spicy and intense finish. Highly polished tannins provide plenty of length on the palate. The sum of the parts results in a balanced wine, long and very aromatic on the palate, where we find the essence of mature Tempranillo with the aromas typical of French oak aging.

ABOUT CASA ROJO

"THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE" LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo, they make wines that José Luis and Laura identify with. They are fortunate and privileged to be able to produce in the regions where they have their roots and admire the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and Monastrell in their Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, they have also added unique white grapes from Ribera del Galicia, such as Verdejo, Albariño, and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear: "A wine should be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, and the local climate."

Casa Rojo has been operating since 2010, making it a relatively young company. However, its wines are now available in over 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and more, and demand exceeds supply. This isn't surprising, as the quality of the wines, the stories behind them, and the presentation are truly unique.
