The age-old winemaking tradition of the area, combined with the age of the local vines and the altitude of the La Meseta high plateau in central Spain (500-800 m), leads to the production of a high-end style of single varietal focused Garnacha, and on Spain's favourite, Tempranillo (Tinto Fino). The area mainly offers deeply colored, concentrated wines typical of savory Spanish reds. Thanks to the area's lesser-known reputation, these wines are still available at very interesting prices. The Madrid region also has an impressive variety of microclimatic and soil variations on point, making the wines unpredictably exciting for even the most weathered specialist.

The often old and high-altitude vineyards deliver very elegant wine with strong acids - almost burgundy or Rhône-like. The red garnacha is incomparable with, for example, the more jammy utovering from the warm low-lying regions

The D.O. recognizes red, white and rosados with the following alcohol content: Arganda: white 10%, rosado 11%, red 11.5%. Navalcarnero: white 11%, rosado 11.5%, red 12%. San Martín: white 11%, rosado 11.5%, red 12%. AThe following grapes are accepted in the D.O. but from this, the wines made by Garnache and Albillo are, in our opinion, the ones that make the region so special

Blue: Garnacha, Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Graciano, Negral, Petit Verdot, Syrah.
White: Albillo Real, Malvar, Parellada, Airen, Macabeu, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Torrentes.

The climate
Madrid has a pre-eminently continental climate. After all, nowhere on the Iberian Peninsula are you as far from the sea as in Madrid - so hot summers and cold winters. In the mountains such as the Gredos there is less hot summer and colder winters and perhaps even more important a big difference between day and night.
