How does this wine taste?
How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.
The drying, grippy feel on your gums and tongue, as with strong tea. It comes from the skins and seeds of black grapes and from oak, and softens with age.
How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.
How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

Château La Tour Blanche: a historic winery in Sauternes
Located in the commune of Bommes, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation in Bordeaux, Château La Tour Blanche is known for its rich history and exceptional sweet white wines. The winery was classified as Premier Cru Classé in 1855 and is unique in that it is owned by the French state. Since 1911, the estate has housed the La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Oenology, where wine professionals are trained.
Location and terroir of Château La Tour Blanche
The wine estate covers 40 hectares of vineyards, situated on a hill with a soil of gravel, clay, and limestone. This combination ensures excellent drainage, essential for the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) that is characteristic of Sauternes wines. The proximity of the Ciron River contributes to the morning mist and sunny afternoons necessary for this unique wine style.
Grape varieties and vinification of the 2024 La Tour Blanche
The 2024 vintage is composed of 85% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc, and 5% Muscadelle. The grapes are harvested by hand in multiple picking rounds to select only the best grapes affected by noble rot. Fermentation takes place in a combination of new French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. The Sémillon ages for 16 to 18 months in 35% new oak barrels, while the Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle age in stainless steel tanks before being blended and bottled.

Wine features
