Description
Expressive white wine from Bianchello with character and a unique style.
The Guerrieri winery and the Marche region
Azienda Agraria Guerrieri has been established in the Marche region of Italy, on the eastern coast near the Adriatic Sea, since 1800. The estate is located in the Metauro Valley, just 12 kilometers from the coast, at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. The vines grow on the eastern bank of the Metauro River, where the soil is rich in gray calcareous clay with blue substrata and fine limestone particles formed by centuries of water erosion.
The climate in this area is mild and balanced, with constant winds, significant temperature fluctuations, and the influence of both the sea and the Apennines. This combination produces healthy grapes with an optimal balance of acidity, aroma, and structure.
Grape varieties, harvest and production of Guerrieri Biancanima
Guerrieri Biancanima is a white wine made from 100% Bianchello grapes, sourced from 30- to 35-year-old vines. The vineyards face northeast and have a planting density of 3,000 vines per hectare. The yield per plant is limited to 1.5 to 2 kg, which contributes to the concentration and quality of the grapes.
The harvest takes place in early October, entirely by hand. Before picking, the bunches are thinned and rigorously selected. Only the ripest grapes are used for this wine, the result of a four-year experiment to reintroduce the historic Bianchello style.
Fermentation and maturation of Guerrieri Biancanima
After a short maceration, during which the skins remain in contact with the juice, alcoholic fermentation takes place in a combination of cement tanks and Italian terracotta amphorae . The wine then ages for approximately one year in the same barrels, without the use of wood. This traditional method gives the wine its characteristic structure, complexity, and minerality, without losing any freshness.
Color, aroma and taste of Guerrieri Biancanima
In the glass, the wine displays a bright golden yellow color. The aroma is complex and aromatic, with balsamic notes of sage, rosemary, pennyroyal (water mint), and star anise. On the palate, the wine is elegant and mineral, with accents of stone fruit and a subtle salty note, brought about by the proximity of the sea. The wine has a beautiful acidity and a refined balance between freshness and texture.

Wijnhuis
