Description
Lightly sparkling, partially fermented red wine from Le Marche with a fruity character and low alcohol.
The Guerrieri winery and its location in the Metauro Valley
Azienda Agraria Guerrieri has been operating in the Marche region, on Italy's east coast, since 1800. The estate is located just 12 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. The vineyards are situated on the eastern bank of the Metauro River, which gives the valley its name. This river is the longest in Le Marche and plays a significant role in the local microclimate.
The combination of sea breezes from the east and cooling air from the Apennines to the west creates a mild climate with significant temperature fluctuations. This contributes to the aromatic development of the grapes. Guerrieri operates sustainably and produces a wide range of quality wines, including still and sparkling varieties.
Grape varieties, vineyard and harvest of Guerrieri Ale
Guerrieri Ale is a unique partially fermented, lightly sparkling red wine. It is made from a blend of Sangiovese and Lacrima , sourced from 15- to 20-year-old vines. The vineyards face northeast with a planting density of 3,300 vines per hectare. Approximately 2 to 3 kg of grapes are harvested per vine. Before the harvest in September, the bunches are carefully thinned, followed by manual selection of the ripest bunches. Thanks to this approach, only the finest grapes are used in the production of this wine.
Vinification and maturation of Guerrieri Ale
After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed pneumatically to preserve the fruit's integrity. The must undergoes cold maceration, followed by partial fermentation . The second fermentation takes place using the Charmat method to create a fine mousse (bubble).
This production method ensures that the natural fruit character is preserved, while a light effervescence provides a refreshing and festive style.
Colour, aroma and taste of Guerrieri Ale
Guerrieri Ale has a bright ruby-red color with purple highlights. The nose reveals aromas of violets, roses, black cherry, and red currant . These floral and fruity notes are typical of the grape varieties used, particularly Lacrima.
On the palate, the wine is harmonious, slightly sweet, and fresh , with a soft mousse and a fruity finish. The alcohol content is low (7%), with a residual sugar of 9.5 g/L, making the wine easily digestible and very accessible.

Wijnhuis
