Description
One family: Antinori, one passion: Wine. Brothers Piero and Lodovico Antinori own the magnificent Tenuta di Biserna in Tocane. According to Parker, "Tenuta di Biserno remains one of the best-kept secrets in Bolgheri." The Biserno is named after the winery because the wine reflects the terroir and microclimate of the winery's surroundings. A beautiful way to name your wine. Only the finest grapes are selected for the blend, resulting in a wine of depth, intensity, complexity, longevity, and elegance.
The flagship Tenuta di Biserno Biserno is a rich, beautiful, and sultry wine. The Biserno is a deep ruby red in the glass, and there's so much life and intensity in this vintage, packed with black fruit, spices, tar, and sweet tobacco. The aromas are presented with seamless transitions, and the finish is exceptionally long. This wine shows maturity but also offers elegance, which is the difference between good and excellent. This wine will improve even further with time in the cellar and has excellent aging potential of 20 years or more. This version is a 1.5-liter magnum.
97/100 Parker

The earthy notes of mushroom and truffle complement the wine's deep complexity, while the buttery sauce emphasises its velvety texture.
3. Leg of lamb with garlic, thyme and roasted aubergine
The spicy lamb reflects the Mediterranean herb aromas in the wine, while eggplant and garlic deepen the mouthfeel.
4. Beef stew with red wine, carrot and bay leaf
Slow-cooked meat and aromatic spices complement the wine's ripe, spicy structure, creating a harmonious balance.
5. Fried veal sweetbreads with roasted fennel and beurre rouge
The sweetbreads' soft texture mirrors the wine's mouthfeel. The fennel and wine sauce enhance the spiciness and refined acidity.

A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small part Petit Verdot from Bibbona on the Tuscan Coast, the Tenuta di Biserno 2021 Biserno is heavy on the Cabernet side of the spectrum, with rosemary and lavender that give the wine a very Mediterranean personality. Beyond that, there is black fruit, spice and campfire ash. This is a thick and richly concentrated wine with a lovely sense of balance and power. It finishes long and rich. There is a hint of spicy black pepper on the close.
Started in 2001, Tenuta di Biserno is the passion project of Lodovico Antinori, his bother Piero Antinori and nephew Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi (who is the general manager today). It has 40 hectares of vines in Bibbona on the Tuscan Coast at 90 meters above sea level on alluvial clay-limestone soils. The grapes planted are Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

The fresh herbs such as basil and thyme are attractive coupled with currants and blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied with lots of fruit and velvety tannins showing an opulence and Super Tuscan intensity. It needs three to five years to come together. Try after 2027.

In 1995, Lodovico Antinori discovered the potential of an area on the outskirts of Bolgheri for viticulture. After an evaluation, he saw the unique characteristics of this area and was convinced that he could create something new and unique in the wine world. A few years later, the Antinori family (Piero, Lodovico, Ilaria and his son Niccolò) and landowner Umberto Mannoni started founding Tenuta di Biserno. Adjacent to the historic village of Bolgheri, with a beautiful view of the Tyrrhenian sea.
The Tuscan winery has 49 hectares of estate and is located in Alta Maremma in western Tuscany between the hills of Bibbona. Due to the specific soil and climate characteristics, the area is divided into two zones. The Bolgheri area has a subsoil of rock; on these 40 hectares, the vines for Biserno and Il Pino di Biserno are planted. The vines planted on the vineyards are mainly Cabernet Franc and Merlot and in smaller quantities Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Tenuta Campo di Sasso, on the other hand, has 56 hectares with mixed (and mainly) sandy soils. This area is close to the sea and is therefore very suitable for varieties such as Syrah and Vermentino. Occhione and Insoglio del Cinghiale come from this area.
