Yealands makes wines in Marlborough on the northeast side of the South Island. The vineyard for Southbank is located far inland where the Waihopai River meets the Wairau River. The South Bank Sauvignon blanc is a soft, aromatic variant of the well-known Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The Soutbank uses state-of-the-art wine vinification. The grapes are picked optimally ripe and the skins are soaked for at least 12 hours. This is followed by vinification and maturation in temperature-controlled stainless steel cuvees. In the glass, the Southbank Marlborough Sauvignon blanc is pale yellow with a green cast. Expressive on the nose with gooseberries, boxwood and mown grass. On the palate, this crisp, dusty sauvignon blanc has a soft start, juicy with sufficient freshness and a good aftertaste.
