Persoonlijke gegevens
The Livio Sassetti family has been producing wine in the Italian region of Montalcino for more than three generations. The Podere Pertimali and its 16 hectares of vineyards are located in the Montosoli region, north of Montalcino, a particularly famous area for growing Sangiovese. Faithful to the teachings of his family, Livio has renewed and expanded the vineyards over time, preserving the genetic heritage of the old vines.
The Sassetti Livio Pertimali Olivelli Vino Bianco is an odd duck and is only made in very small quantities. It is an IGP because according to the regulations of Montalcino it is not allowed to use Chardonnay grapes but the Livio Sassetti family has a small plot on a northern slope where they have planted Chardonnay and ermentino and make the beautiful Olivelli from it. 50% Chardonnay and 50% Vermentino. Part of the wine has had some wood aging and the remaining (and largest) part has been Sur Lie matured on stainless steel. Together this makes for a fresh fruity yet complex white wine with white and yellow fruit, a hint of citrus and a hint of vanilla and broche as a result of the wood aging. This is also a wine that remains delicious with a few years of aging because the wine has a perfect backbone. It should also be noted that this is not an alcohol bomb but with 12.5% it remains very elegant.

The Livio Sassetti family has been producing wine in the Italian region of Montalcino for more than three generations. The Podere Pertimali and its 16 hectares of vineyards are located in the Montosoli region, north of Montalcino, an area particularly renowned for the cultivation of Sangiovese. True to his family's teachings, Livio has over time renewed and expanded the vineyards, preserving the genetic heritage of the old vines.
In 1967 Livio was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino and in 1968 he built a terracotta wall in his cellar to preserve the old vintages of the wines produced by the family, the historical memory of the company. Today the collection consists of almost 1000 bottles. In 1999, the Sassetti family acquired a company in Maremma, La Querciolina, within the Montecucco DOC. Thanks to the great passion and experience, abandoned vineyards are transformed into vineyards capable of producing Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo of the highest quality.
