Description
Bodegas Tridente is also part of Juan Gil, a family business founded in 1916 in the heart of Jumilia, and a champion of establishing Jumilia as a top wine region. True to its roots, this winery has seamlessly blended tradition and modern technology with respect for the environment. Juan Gill is also the creator of the famous Clio and the world-renowned El Nido.
Tridente, located in Castilla y León, is a 100% Tempranillo wine aged for an impressive 15 months in French oak. The Tempranillo grapes used for this wine come from very old, low-yield vines in the Villanueva de Campeán and El Pego regions of Zamora. These vineyards were planted long ago on a gravelly expanse with sandy soil, so the vines have to work. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine ages in French oak barrels for approximately 15 months. The nose reveals aromas of toasted oak, graphite, balsamic vinegar, incense, and black fruit. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied and has a firm finish with notes of toasted bread and nuts. Like all Juan Gil wines, this Tridente offers excellent value for money.

The 2021 Tempranillo originates from Castilla y León and underwent a 15-month aging process in oak barrels, 50% new. Garnet in color, the nose reveals notes of vanilla, cedar, plums and chutney-like aromas. Indulgent and rich (15% alcohol), the bold tannins are reactive, providing a structured mouthfeel. This is a long-lasting red with commercial appeal.

In Castilla y León you will find Bodegas Tridente, a small winery that specialises in creating wines from Tempranillo and the indigenous varieties Tinta de Toro and Prieto Picudo. The climate of Castilla y León is perfectly suited to Tempranillo, with icy winds in winter and hot humid summers, Bodegas Tridente is able to produce wines with depth and body, whilst still remaining elegant with a distinct acidity.
The true beauty of the wines are rooted in the history of the vines. Some of the grapevines are over 100 years old, producing extremely low yields of grapes with intensely concentrated flavours.
