The Luna is the most unique of Cote's creations. This Cote Luna is composed of 3 grape varieties that we rarely find together in this region and even in Spain: Aragonés, Petit Verdot and Garnacha. Each vineyard between 70 and 115 years old! and that makes an amazing wine. The grapes are picked separately, each time according to the biodynamic lunar cycle (hence the name "luna"). Then vinified separately in cement and stainless steel cuves. Always with temperature control. Then malolactic fermentation on Lunessence barriques from Burgundy. 12 to 16 months batonnage. Bottling without clarification or filtering. The Cote Luna is very dark in the glass with black fruit on the nose in a wild mixture of cocoa, liquorice, cedar and oriental spices, with ras-el-hanout, even some saffron. A lot of complexity. On the palate and whirlwind of flavours, firm attack with lots of flavour. And especially beautiful acids that form a tight backbone for this wine. Serious length and complexity. Great!

ABOUT COTE

Cote is a special figure. Living encyclopedia of the Ribera del Duero region, with the most impressive resume of all oenologists. With his knowledge, he started a small boutique winery in 2018, named after his nickname "Cote". Cote is in his late 40s, but has spent his life working with some of the greatest of the region. Also, if your maternal grandfather's name is Teófilo Reyes, you know you're going to get into wine! Cote started his career at Vega Sicilia where he worked in viticulture among the vineyards. He was then Peter Sisseck 's right-hand man at Pingus for over 10 years and did more than 10 harvests with him. He also did the oenological part at Hacienda Monasterio, where Peter Sisseck is a consultant. He also worked for a long time with Mariano Garcia, especially his sons in the project Mauro and the beginning of Aalto.

Vineyard for 2019 Cote Entrevinos Cote Luna
