Mencia

Mencia is a blue grape with a thin skin. By many, the aroma of Mencia is associated with that of Cabernet Franc. However, genetic research has shown that there is no link between the two grape varieties. Well-made Mencia wines are structurally reminiscent of Pinot Noir.

What does the Mencia taste like?

The aromatic profile of Mencia wine is mainly that of red fruit with firm tannins and high acidity. Mencia grapes derived from old vines can give complex, high-quality wines. When the grapes are well ripe, juicy, supple and very balanced wines are created.
