Rubin

Rubin is an authentic Bulgarian grape variety. It came to be through the crossing of Syrah and Nebbiolo. The crossing first occured in 1944, but it took until 1961 before the new grape variety would get recognised internationally. The Rubin grape only gets shared in very small areas in the regio of Struma River Valley, in the Southwest of Bulgaria. The wines of the Rubin grape distinguish themselves through their dark red colour, extractability, good, harmonic flavour with nuances of forest fruit, blackberries and violets, and a very good aging potential.
