Treixadura

Treixadura is a white grape that originates from Galicia. Currently the main grape of Ribeiro, but it is also found in Valdeorras and Ribeira Sacra.
The grapes that come from old vines give significantly better wines than those from young vines. Treixadura is an early ripening grape that comes into its own when it is picked just short of full ripeness, so that the acids are better preserved. 

What does wine from the Treixadura grape taste like?

The white wines of the treixadura are balanced, fresh wines with light aromas of fruit. The cold wine region provides beautiful fresh acidity that is very characteristic of this wine. That is why the treixadura grapes are harvested early. This is the best way to preserve its mild freshness. The treixadura gives body and provides beautiful notes of citrus fruits and pear.
