Casar de Vide is located in the municipality of Castrelo de Miño in the province of Orense, just a few meters from the Miño River. It is a beautiful landscape where the vineyards adorn the land with their elegant contours and undulating textures. Casar de Vide means "House of the Vineyard" and is a combination of the terms "Casar," the name given to traditional Galician houses, and "Vide," the name given to Concello de Vide, renowned for its traditional winemaking tradition. The winery is located in the heart of Ribeiro DO, the oldest in Galicia, and aims to become one of the region's winemaking benchmarks, where excellence and quality are essential identifying characteristics. Vina Mein and Valdesil are examples of pioneering wines in the Ribera region, where Spain's most elegant wines originate. Wines with complexity, elegance, and a touch of marine life.

The winery, situated on a 2,200-square-meter estate, was built in 1988 using granite masonry adjacent to the historic house, which was built in 1957. Casar de Vide has managed to integrate modernity, technology, and a touch of classicism from a land with unique potential. It features a grape reception and processing building, a fermentation and storage building, a bottling and filtering room, a storage area, and a space for tours and wine tastings.

Casar de Vide is a unique project, with 2019 being the first vintage to be released. It's a project Carlos Moro, CEO of Gruppo Matarromera, has been working on for many years in his ongoing quest to produce unique wines from Spain's most rugged and distinctive wine region. The Casar de Vide philosophy is to use the finest grapes to produce white wines from indigenous varieties that stand out for their elegance and subtlety, conveying freshness and delicacy.

The Atlantic winds and cool climate ensure slow ripening, giving the wines the elegance typical of Burgundy. The vineyards used to make this Casar de Vide Treixadura were selected for their proximity to both banks of the Miño River, with varying orientations, so that the Treixadura expresses different nuances: freshness in the shadier locations and more maturity in others, and all vineyards have thick, gravelly soils.

The Casar de Vide Treixadura is a blend of Treixadura (85%) Albariño, Godello, and Torrontés grapes. In the glass, the Casar de Vide Treixadura has a vibrant pale straw yellow color with greenish and steely reflections, clean and very bright. The nose is frank, intense, and very direct, with hints of freshly cut apple, green banana peel, and green apricot, along with soft notes of white flower and carnation, with distinct tropical reminiscences of fresh pineapple. Subtle citrus notes of grapefruit are present in the background. On the palate, it has excellent length and balance, with the freshness of its Atlantic origins, a lively acidity, and rich aromatic sensations on the palate, where clear reminiscences of fresh apple and peach are perceived. The wine has a long, lively, and balanced finish.

This beautiful white wine is a true pleasure and a perfect accompaniment to grilled scallops, caviar, creamy fresh cheeses, rice and pasta dishes, octopus and tuna.

ABOUT GRUPPO MATARROMERA

Following in the footsteps of his Castilian ancestors, Carlos Moro realized his dream and founded the Matarromera winery in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) in 1988 with a clear goal in mind: to produce quality wines using the most advanced technology while respecting traditional winemaking methods. The greatest challenge Carlos Moro faced was choosing new barrels for aging his wines, a first for the region at the time. Another key to Matarromera's immediate success was its excellent vineyards, nestled in the heart of the Ribera del Duero's "golden mile." Today, a quarter-century later, Carlos Moro continues to design projects and craft ever-more sophisticated wines. Matarromera's focus on quality wines stems from the vineyard itself. Thanks to the work begun by Carlos Moro's ancestors, loving care for the vineyard has been a constant. No artificiality in the Bodega, but a good wine comes from a top vineyard.

Sustainability is a top priority at Grupo Matarromera, and in 2007, the Matarromera Group was selected by IESE [Institute of Higher Business Studies] as the most environmentally friendly organization in Spain. The winery currently generates more energy than it consumes. Each Matarromera Group winery is a sustainable building designed to utilize natural light, provide optimal insulation, and effectively utilize both rainwater and wastewater.

Recently, the Spanish winery has launched a new cosmetic line called Esdor. The products of this line use the antioxidant-rich grape skins that remain after wine making. According to the company, the red grape skins are a source of polyphenols. These are said to be effective against aging and reducing the elasticity of the skin. They keep the skin soft and supple. The cosmetic line includes nourishing creams, moisturizing creams and eye contour products. Natural ingredients are used for cosmetics.
