Description
Montilla Moriles is located in the Corboda district, in the historic triangle of Granada - Seville - Corboda. The region is famous for its "sherry" wines, but they only work with the Pedro Ximenez grape. That makes these wines very characteristic and special! The region is very famous for its Amontillado wines. Amontillado = à la Montillado. This 18 year old Amontillado is the convincing proof of this.
The Gran Barquero Amontillado comes 100% from the Pedro Ximenez grape. The has aged at least between 25-30 years in oak barrels followed by the "Solera and Criadera" system. The Gran Barquero Amontillado has a beautiful amber color and has a subtle, elegant nose with nuts and almond and goes towards a Fino Sherry. On the palate the wine is silky smooth and warm with aromas of almond. The wine has a nice and long aftertaste fresh slightly salty aftertaste. The wine has received no less than 95 Parker points, which is unique for a wine / sherry from this price range. This is an absolute must for the sherry enthusiast

Perez Barquero is known worldwide for the quality of its wines. The first cellars of Perez Barquero were established in 1905 in the historic town of Montilla-Moriles, south of Cordoba. The tradition of winemaking here dates back to Roman times and has never left the city. Until 1933, Montilla-Moriles was part of the Sherry area of Jerez. Since it got its own designation of origin, the winegrowers have gone their own way. The more than 100-year-old cellars of Perez Barquero are still in use. Unlike the Sherries from Jerez, Barquero's wines are made exclusively from the Pedro Ximénez grape.
