Description
Family business Rapaura Springs was founded in 2005 and is one of the top 10 largest wineries in Marlborough. Purity and purity is what Rapaura Springs stands for. For example, the water used for the vines comes from the Rapaura Spring water source, far away from the vineyards. This crystal clear and pure water from the Wairau River flows through the rocks and travels a 6-month journey to reach the vineyards. The word 'Rapaura' therefore means: flowing water. There is a lot of attention to detail within the New Zealand winery and the makers strive to make the most exceptional, pure and clean wines. All wines are produced sustainably.
The Sauvignon is light yellow with green hues. The taste is rich in white and tropical fruit and has pronounced notes of white peach, lime peel, white nectarine and passion fruit together with herbs and citrus. The Rapaura Sauvignon blanc is medium-bodied, fruity with a seductive taste and offers plenty of citrus and spicy taste in the mouth characterized by beautiful acids and finishes long. Ideal with fish and Caesar salad. The Sauvignon Blanc was voted Best Sauvignon Blanc at the Wine & Spirit Competition in London and received rave reviews from Harold Hamersma and Hubrecht Duijker.
This wine gets a real boost by reaching 41st place in Wine Spectator's top 100 best wines in the world (released in November 2021). Quite unique for a wine in this price range. https://top100.winespectator.com/lists/
“The Rapaura Springs. Source of a juicy-grassy, nicely firm Sauvignon Blanc. Pepper and spice on the aftertaste. Harold Hamersma in De Grote Hamersma 2016, rated with an 8.5
“Superior in its kind is the Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from New Zealand's largest wine region, Marlborough. In addition to being crystal clear, it tastes invigoratingly fresh and not too light, with an aroma in which grassiness, boxwood and green fruit go together pleasantly. Producer Spring Creek Vintners uses grapes from 54 small plots for the Rapaura Springs brand, divided over twenty different vineyards, four of which are owned by the company. Ultimate fish wine”, Hubrecht Duijker, 1 October 2015.

1. Salad with goat cheese, green apple and walnuts
The crisp freshness of green apple and the creaminess of goat cheese enhance the fruity acidity in the wine. The walnuts provide an earthy balance.
2. Baked white fish with lemon butter and peas
The light structure of white fish such as cod or plaice is beautifully carried by the wine. The lemon butter and peas bring sweet-fresh elements that perfectly match the citrus aromas of the wine.
3. Fresh grilled zucchini and feta with mint and lime
This fresh vegetable dish complements the green character of the Sauvignon Blanc. The mint and lime enhance the aromatic profile, while feta provides a salty kick.
4. Thai noodle salad with shrimp, coriander and lime
The wine cuts through the light spiciness and fattiness of the noodles and shrimp. The coriander and lime provide an aromatic play that highlights the expressiveness of the wine.
5. Carpaccio of sea bream with fennel and orange
The sea bream has a subtle salty taste that goes perfectly with the fresh acidity of the wine. Orange matches the tropical fruit character, while fennel provides a spicy accent.
6. Roasted fennel with ricotta and lemon zest
The aniseed notes of fennel and the soft ricotta together with lemon zest make for a beautifully balanced dish. The wine is given space here to show its minerality and fruit.
