Description
Founded in 2005, family-owned Rapaura Springs is one of the top 10 largest wineries in Marlborough. Purity and purity is what Rapaura Springs stands for. For example, the water used for the vines comes from the Rapaura Spring water source, far away from the vineyards. This crystal clear and pure water from the Wairau River flows through the rocks and travels for 6 months to reach the vineyards. The word 'Rapaura' therefore means: flowing water. There is great attention to detail within the New Zealand winery and the makers strive to make the most exceptional, clean and pure wines. All wines are sustainably produced.
The fruit for the Reserve Pinot Noir comes from the best Pinot Noir plots in the vineyards of Rapaura Springs in Marlborough. The Rapaura winery is the only facility in this sub-region, which means that the grapes can be pressed immediately after harvest, capturing all the expressive aromas and fruit flavours, without bitter phenols and avoiding the premature fermentation that often occurs when there are still a long transport is from vineyard to winery. Prolonged warm and dry weather for the 2019 harvest enabled the producer to pick the pinot noir when it is perfectly ripe. After harvest, the fruit was cold soaked for 5 days to extract flavour, tannins and colour. Fermentation followed, in a selection of small open top tanks, using a selection of yeasts. Each fermentation was immersed three times a day. The wine was allowed to macerate for five days before being gently pressed from the skins. The wine matured for 10 months in French oak barriques, 20% of which are new oak.
The Rapaura Springs Marlborough Pinot Noir Reserve is a velvety wine is full of delicious aromas and flavors of red berries, cherries and plum fruit, with silky tannins. This is a typical Marlborough Pinot Noir of the best kind in which fruit and elegance go very well together.
