Fresh and elegant rosé from Sangiovese from the Metauro Valley in Le Marche.

The Guerrieri winery and its location in the Metauro Valley

Azienda Agraria Guerrieri has been located in the Marche region on the eastern coast of Italy, overlooking the Adriatic Sea, since 1800. The vineyards are located just 12 kilometres from the coast, 200 metres above sea level, in the historic Metauro Valley , named after the longest river in the region. This unique location provides optimum growing conditions for grapes with a fresh and expressive character.

The climate in the Metauro Valley is mild and balanced. Thermal differences between day and night, combined with constant air circulation from both the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains, create ideal conditions for aromatic and balanced wines. The soil consists of gray calcareous clay that changes to light blue sediment a few meters deeper. This terroir contributes to the minerality and finesse of Guerrieri's wines:contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}.

Background and meaning of the wine Guerrieri Rosa dei Venti

The Rosa dei Venti is Guerrieri's rosé interpretation of the Sangiovese grape variety. The name literally means "Rose of the Winds", but also symbolically refers to the first twenty employees of the winery to whom this wine is dedicated. This wine therefore not only stands for quality, but also for dedication and history within the family business.

Grape variety, harvest and vinification of Guerrieri Rosa dei Venti

This rosé is made from 100% Sangiovese , from 15 to 20 year old vines with a planting density of 3200 vines per hectare. The vineyard is oriented towards the northeast, which helps to preserve freshness and slow ripening. The harvest takes place in early September, preceded by thinning of the bunches to increase concentration. The grapes are picked by hand and rigorously selected for quality. The wine is produced using white vinification: the juice remains in contact with the skins for only a short time during pressing, which results in the light rosé colour. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, so that freshness and aromas are optimally preserved.

Color, smell and taste of Guerrieri Rosa dei Venti

The wine shows a refined, light pink color in the glass. In the nose aromas of flowers, citrus and soft red fruit . These floral and fresh citrus tones continue in the taste. In the mouth the wine is light, lively and elegant , with a good balance between acidity and fruit. The aftertaste is refreshing and dry, with a light roundness that ensures accessibility.

The alcohol content is 11.5% and the wine contains 5 g/L residual sugar, which makes it very suitable as an aperitif or with light dishes.

Wijnhuis
