Description
Honoro Vera is the new project of the Gil family, who are world famous for their El Nido and Clio wines, but also have very small beautiful domains where the best of the region is brought forward on a very small scale. All these wines are each and every one gems. The name Honoro Vera is a tribute to the Gil family, where Honoro is the name of Miquel Gil's grandfather and Vera of his grandmother.
The Honoro Vera Rosé is a relatively new wine in the Honoro Vera Collection. We carry the already very popular Honoro Vera Garnacha and the other wines from Honoro Vera (which is part of the Juan Gil Family) excel in Price-Quality and that is also the case with this delicious fresh rosé.
This Gil Family Estates Honoro Vera Rosé is a beautiful light salmon-colored rosé with hints of watermelon rind on the nose. The taste is bright and fresh with notes of red fruits and berries, including strawberry, cherry and ends again with watermelon. A fresh and refreshing Rosé with a mineral edge and a long, dry finish reminiscent of the Provencal style and with its 12.5% also civilized in alcohol percentage.
Winemaking notes: This wine is a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah. It was made using a combination of direct pressing and the saignée method and vinified in steel tanks. The juice is then allowed to ferment only at a low temperature (18-20 ° C / 65-68 ° F) to preserve maximum aromas. The wine is VEGAN certified.
Braces:
91/100 – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2018 vintage)
90/100 – James Suckling (2016 vintage)

The beautiful bodega Juan Gil was founded in 1916 and has been owned by the Gil family for generations. Unlike the majority of Jumilla, the vineyards are located on the plateau between the mountains. As a result, Juan Gil benefits from a more temperate climate compared to the wineries located in the valley. The metamorphosis on Juan Gil's domain is truly spectacular. Where Juan Gil was always one of the leading wineries of the Jumilla region, today it marks itself more than ever as the top winery of the region. This is mainly due to the constant investments of owner Miguel Gil. His wines from the Jumilla region, which was synonymous with mass and basic, now rank among the very best in Spain. And what is beautiful, not only the top cuvées but any wine with the Gil signature is a pleasure. In addition to the well-known and famous wines of Juan Gil under the name El Nido and Clio, the family has beautiful domains including Pedrera, the 12 Meses (silver Label)| and the L'Altre de Can Blau. All in all, beautiful wines which are all organically grown and produced and have an excellent price/quality ratio
Miguel Gil also owns the top estate El Nido and out of respect and love for his region (and great wine!), is choosing quality over quantity in Jumilla, which had been undiscovered for years. For the mini-project of Bodegas El Nido, he calls on the Australian top winemaker Chris Ringland (at Parker perfect for 100/100…). At this small Bodega, 2 wines are made: Clio & El Nido. The 16 hectares of Monastrell vineyards, which are 60 years old, are situated on terraces that are oriented to the northeast. In addition, 25 years ago, 12 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted in the same region on the north-facing hills. Today, these unique vineyards offer top-quality grapes that are magnificently refined by the Gil-Ringland duo into Spain's most aristocratic wines.
Organic/organic viticulture and sustainability are important elements in the vision of the Gil Family. Click here to see a nice video overview: Gil Family Estates - Video
