The total surface of the Larcis-Ducasse vineyard is 11.15 ha of which 9.80 ha is in use. The planting density is 6,000 vines/ha and this will be increased to 8,888 after replanting. It is a common idea that a higher planting density is intended to produce more, which is not the case. Due to the high planting density, the yield per plant is much lower and the plant is forced by the 'competition' to root deeper. This mainly benefits the quality and certainly not the quantity.

The 2024 Larcis Ducasse reveals ripe, expressive aromas of violets, dark berries, smoke, graphite and subtle oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a lively and elegant character. The heart shows juicy fruit, supported by velvety tannins that gradually assert themselves on the youthful, chalky finish. The fruit is perfectly ripe, without the over-ripeness seen in some recent vintages, allowing the character of the limestone terroir to shine through. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

1. Roast leg of lamb with thyme, garlic and roasted root vegetables
The spicy notes of the lamb enhance the earthy character of the wine, while the juicy meat rounds out the tannins. The roasted vegetables complement the ripe, warm style.

2. Beef stew with red wine, mushrooms and bay leaf
The rich, long-stewed flavours harmonise with the depth and complexity of the wine. The umami of the mushrooms brings out the savoury element in the glass.

3. Roasted duck breast with cherry compote and parsnip puree
The combination of ripe fruit and savoury intensity from the dish perfectly complements the dark fruit and floral finesse of the wine. The creaminess of the puree matches the mouthfeel.

4. Lentils with confit de canard and fresh sage
The firm structure of the lentils supports the body of the wine, while the salty meat and herbs combine beautifully with the ripe profile and elegance of the Larcis Ducasse.

5. Baked veal sweetbreads with truffle potatoes and red wine jus
The soft texture of the sweetbreads complements the silky tannins of the wine. The truffle potato and rich jus add depth that complements the layered flavor profile.

6. Venison fillet with blackberry jus, roasted celeriac and hazelnuts
The power and finesse of the game meat and the sweet-fruity sauce enhance the complex fruitiness and spiciness of the wine. Celeriac and nuts add earthiness and texture.
