The Gazin 2024 has been labeled "The most affordable wine from the famous Pomerol plateau!" The 2024 vintage was sold at a volume of 60%, making it one of the scarcest wines in this price range.

Château Gazin was once a barn belonging to the Order of the Hospitallers of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, as their mark (a red cross) on the label still attests. With its 24.4 hectares in one piece, it is one of the largest properties in Pomerol. The owner is Mr. Nicolas de Baillencourt. The soil is of very high quality, pebbles and clay with the typical subsoil full of "crasse de fer." In the 1970s, the owner even sold a portion of this to Château Pétrus. This is a Pomerol of exceptional class. Château Gazin borders Château Pétrus. That says a lot, really. You can safely describe the taste of this intense wine as distinguished.

The 2024 Château Gazin from Pomerol is an elegant and accessible wine that beautifully reflects the charm of the Right Bank region. The blend consists of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon , sourced from grapes hand-harvested at peak ripeness. The Merlot was harvested between September 20th and 30th, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon on October 3rd, 2024.

The wine has an alcohol content of 13.5% and was aged for 14 to 16 months in barriques, half new and half second-pass. This combination of barrel types ensures refinement, preservation of aromatic freshness, and a beautiful balance between wood and fruit.

Tasting notes:

The color is deep purple, with refined aromas of blueberry, blackberry, peony, and a hint of menthol on the nose. On the palate, the wine is round and fleshy, with fine, well-integrated tannins. The overall effect is harmonious and silky, with a fresh undertone that makes it both drinkable and aging potential. The 2024 Gazin is already appealing in its youth, but will continue to develop and reveal its full potential between 2029 and 2034.

1. Roasted chicken with tarragon cream sauce and roasted root vegetables
The creamy sauce complements the roundness of the wine, while the tarragon and roasted vegetables accentuate the spicy and floral notes.

2. Lamb rack with garlic, rosemary and lentils
The lamb softens the tannins, and the combination with lentils gives structure and earthy depth that complements the wine's profile beautifully.

3. Tagliatelle with mushrooms, Parmesan and sage butter
Mushrooms bring out the umami, enhancing the wine's fruity character. The cheese and herbs add further layers.

4. Duck breast with beetroot and raspberry jus
The juicy texture of the meat complements the soft tannins, while the combination of earthy beetroot and fresh fruit notes elegantly supports the wine.

5. Fried veal sweetbreads with cauliflower cream and hazelnut
The dish's creamy texture perfectly complements Gazin's velvety style, while cauliflower and nuts provide balance and depth.

6. Scallops with celeriac puree, apple and a touch of truffle
The delicate scallops and creamy celeriac enhance the wine's elegant character. Apple adds freshness, and truffle adds complexity.
