Description
Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay 2023
The 2023 Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay is a world-class wine from California. This wine is known for its full-bodied, light-creamy style, fresh elegance, and aromas of tropical fruit. The balance of fruit, oak, and freshness makes this a classic Chardonnay beloved worldwide.
About Kendall-Jackson
Kendall-Jackson is a family-owned winery with deep roots in California. The winery operates entirely sustainably and holds the official California Sustainability Certificate . Their philosophy revolves around respect for nature and crafting wines that reflect the purest expression of their origins. Since its founding in 1982, Kendall-Jackson has become an icon in the American wine world. Their Vintner's Reserve series is their most recognizable line, featuring wines that represent consistent quality and pure Chardonnay character.
The Vintner's Reserve series
The Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay is the most popular premium Chardonnay in the United States. This wine showcases the typical Kendall-Jackson style: a blend of fruity aromas, soft creaminess, and refined oak notes. By blending grapes from various coastal regions, the result is a wine with the complexity and balance characteristic of the California coastal style.
Origin, climate and terroir
The grapes are sourced from cooler coastal regions such as Monterey, Santa Barbara, and Sonoma County. The oceanic influence ensures cool nights and long, even ripening. The soils consist of sand, loam, and clay rich in minerals. Each plot is individually analyzed to determine which grape variety and which management methods will yield the best results. This meticulous work in the vineyard results in pure, layered wines with natural freshness and tension.
Vinification and maturation
The grapes ferment and mature in a combination of French and American oak barrels, giving the wine richness and complexity. Maturation in oak lasts approximately seven months. Some of the wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fresh fruit notes, while the rest is aged in oak to add roundness and depth. The aging on lie gives the wine extra texture and a refined creaminess.
Tasting note
The color is bright golden yellow with subtle green hues. The aroma reveals tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, apple, and pear, with a hint of citrus and vanilla. The palate is full and slightly creamy with notes of ripe fruit, butter, and toasted nuts. A touch of oak adds depth without being overpowering. The finish is long, fresh, and elegant. The wine is rich yet retains a vibrant freshness that keeps it perfectly balanced.
Serving temperature and storage potential
This wine is ready to drink now and will remain at its best until 2027. Drink it young for fresh fruit or let it age for a few years for rounder notes of honey and vanilla.
