2022 Herdade do Sobroso Cellar Selection Branco

Herdade do Sobroso is located in Vidigueira in the Alentejo region. This is one of the oldest wine regions in Portugal. In the beautiful Alentejo, Herdade do Sobroso has a perfect location with its vineyards located on the banks of the river Guadiana and its tributary river Rio dos Patos or the river of the ducks. The trademark is therefore the ducks on the labels. It is the perfect setting for the ripening of the grapes and few vineyards have this luxury and this explains why this winery can make very nice wines because there is never a water debt. In addition to the fact that there is sufficient water, this region is the only one in the Alentejo that has the influence of the ocean that ensures healthy ripening.

The Blanco from the Cellar Selection (or Branco in Portuguese) is a special white wine from hand-picked Antao Vaz and Albarino (Alvarinho) grapes with a wood aging of 6-9 months in French oak barrels of 500 liters. Fresh, elegant, complex and opulent with white and tropical fruits and a little nutmeg. The palate is fresh, unctuous and full of flavor with an elegant and very long finish. Due to the subtle character of this wine, sea bream and brill are ideally suited. The Cellar Selection are among the top wines of Herdade do Sobroso - always very limited available.
