Description
Elegant Langhe Nebbiolo from historic Borgogno winery in the heart of Piedmont.
The history of the Borgogno winery in Barolo
Borgogno Winery is one of the oldest and most respected producers in Piemonte, founded in 1761 in the village of Barolo. The house has a rich history that is intertwined with the rise of Barolo as a world-class wine region. Borgogno already made wines for royal tables and diplomatic occasions in the 19th century.
Since 2008, Borgogno has been owned by the Farinetti family, known for Eataly among other things. Under their management, the house has been modernized without deviating from the traditional style. The focus is on pure, terroir-oriented wines, produced with respect for natural processes and minimal intervention in the cellar.
The Langhe region and the climate in Piedmont
The Langhe is located in the province of Cuneo in southern Piedmont, an area known for its rolling hills, chalky soils and excellent location for growing Nebbiolo. The vineyards of Borgogno benefit from a continental climate with warm summers, cool nights and long, sunny autumns. This combination ensures a slow, even ripening of the grapes, which is important for preserving freshness, aromas and structure.
The Bartomé vineyard is located on a slope in the municipality of Barolo, at an altitude of about 400 metres. Only Nebbiolo grapes are grown here for this specific wine, where manual harvesting and natural fermentation ensure a pure expression of grape and soil.
Characteristics of Borgogno Langhe Nebbiolo Bartomé
The Langhe Nebbiolo Bartomé is an elegant red wine, made from 100% Nebbiolo. In the nose it shows rose petals, red cherries, strawberries and a hint of spices. In the mouth the wine is refined, with bright acids, silky tannins and a long, fresh finish. This wine is not aged in wood and therefore retains its lively, youthful character.
Although Nebbiolo is best known for the powerful Barolos, this Langhe Nebbiolo shows a more accessible and fruity face of the grape. Yet the wine remains true to the typical structure and elegance that characterize this grape variety.
Why Borgogno Langhe Nebbiolo Bartomé is interesting for lovers of classic red wines
For wine lovers looking for an authentic Nebbiolo without the weight or price tag of Barolo, Bartomé is an excellent choice. It is made with the same attention and quality as Borgogno’s top cuvées, but with an emphasis on immediate drinking pleasure, finesse and digestibility.
The combination of traditional vineyard management, natural vinification and the Langhe terroir makes this wine interesting for both connoisseurs and those who want to deepen their initial acquaintance with Nebbiolo.

Borgogno is one of the very first and probably very oldest wineries in Piemonte. The Italian winery strongly believes in the classical and traditional philosophy whatever its strength; adherence to these traditions has been passed on to future generations for years. Borgogno owns 13 hectares of vineyards, 9 of which are planted with the Nebbiolo grape. The wines are all vinified in a traditional way to produce unique and structured wines.
