Sara Pérez is the wife of Rene Barbier Jr who is named after his father Rene Barbier who makes the famous Clos Mogador, Espectacle and Manyetes. Sara Pérez is also in charge of the Clos Martinet family estate. She also works closely with her brother Adria on Cims de Porrera. Father JoséLuis Pérez, one of the most important figures in the Spanish wine world, is proud of his children. He himself remains active in various wine projects. Together with her husband René Barbier (Clos Mogador), Sara Pérez owns and vinifies two beautiful wines at Venus La Universal. As a tribute to every small food manufacturer from the 1920s who wanted to grow up, Sara has christened this mini-domain Compania Universal de Vinos. There on 'La Uni', as she likes to call it herself, she has created the mother of all female wines: Venus. And 'Dido' is the more than exemplary daughter of 'Venus'. New is the Dido blanco, a complex white wine based on Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca, with partial fermentation in French oak. The wine deserves a little bottle aging and is best served in large glasses. Elegant 'feminine' wines with a lot of style.
The Dido La Universal is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha & Merlot. In the glass, the wine is ruby red, with a sensual bouquet full of ripe fruit (from Garnacha and Merlot), something spicy (Cabernet Sauvignon). The Universal Dido Tinto has beautiful notes of red and black fruit, a light oak touch and some cedar wood impressions with a particularly long finale. A truly beautiful wine at a very attractive price. This organic wine is certified organic.
In some cases, the wines are given a kind of WAX closure instead of a regular capsule. This has no further purpose and has the disadvantage that it hardens quite quickly and pieces can then simply crumble (spontaneously, during transport, etc.). This has no influence on the quality of the wine. We cannot give any further guarantee for this.
Perswijn April 2022 — 4.5* in the Catalunya, Navarra and Aragón Special "Flavour: smoky, sultry, spices, cherries, broad. Taste: powerful, juicy, firm, tannin, acidity."
