This new vintage 2021 is truly sensational and is made from the blue grape variety Sangiovese (a typical blue Tuscan grape known from the Brunellos and Chiantis, among others). The taste is soft, mineral, refined, aromatic with vanilla and caramel notes. It was the express wish of Marchese Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta (Sassicaia San Guido) to make this white wine from a blue grape. The wine rests sur lie for 12 months and then matures for a further 6 months in new oak. Sensational! A gem of a wine. A nice wine with various fish and pasta dishes, shellfish, but also delicious to enjoy every day. Due to the (very) long Sur lie education and (new) oak aging, this is also a wine that has a clear long life and can improve over the years and time will tell how long, but certainly 5-8 years. From the 2020 vintage, the wine is also Organic certified (previous vintages were also made BIO but still without official certification)
Fertuna is located in the south of Tuscany in the Maremma. The Fertuna winery is owned by wine merchant Giuseppe Meregalli from Monza. He made his money from the worldwide distribution of the wines of Sassicaia (Tenuta San Guido). The owner and winemaker of San Guido (including Sassicaia), the Marquis Incisa della Rocchetta, even gave him a hand at the start and revealed some of his winemaker's secrets. The marquis now even signs for 2 wines from this domain, namely the red wine Pactio and the white wine Droppello. The company is under the expert management of Paolo Rivella, scion of another great winemaking family in Italy. His uncle is Enzio Rivella and was at the cradle of some great Tuscan estates such as Banfi and is still regarded as one of the leading figures in the Italian wine world.
The domain is located on the Roman Via Aurelia Gavorrano and is located between Grosseto and Folonica. In addition to the classic sangiovese, international varieties such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon are also planted here. Noteworthy is the Droppello, a white wine made from the sangiovese grape!

The name Fertuna is a combination of the words fertility (Fertus) and happiness (fortuna). The domain is located on the Roman Via Aurelia Gavorrano and is between Grosseto and Folonica. In addition to the classic Sangiovese, international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are also planted here. Noteworthy is the Droppello, a white wine made from the Sangiovese grape!
