Fertuna is located in the very south of Tuscany in the Maremma. The Fertuna winery is owned by wine merchant Giuseppe Meregalli from Monza. He earned his money with the worldwide distribution of the wines of Sassicaia (Tenuta San Guido). San Guido's owner, the Marquis Incisa della Rocchetta, even lent him a hand at the start, revealing some of his winemaking secrets. The Marquis now even signs for 2 wines from this domain, namely the red wine Pactio and the white wine Droppello. The company is under the expert leadership of Paolo Rivella, scion of another great winemaking family in Italy. His uncle is Enzio Rivella and was the founder of some great Tuscan estates such as Banfi and is still regarded as one of the leading figures in the Italian wine world.
The domain is located on the Roman Via Aurelia Gavorrano and lies between Grosseto and Folonica. In addition to the classic Sangiovese, international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are also planted here. Remarkable is the Droppello, a white wine made from the Sangiovese grape!
The Fertuna Pactio Toscana Rosso is a ruby red full wine with lots of red fruit and hints of vanilla. It is soft and fantastically balanced and has a nice structure. Delicious tannins, supple and very elegant. This wine is the result of a collaboration with Marchese Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta (Sassicaia San Guido).
