When we talk about Burgundy, Domaine Faiveley is one of the very best addresses. This is a large family business with about 120 hectares of vineyards, including famous names such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis Grand Cru.

However, it is also a family winery with 10 hectares of Grand Cru and almost 25 hectares of Premier Cru. The first step was taken in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley; his son Joseph turned the winery into a great top company and his wines became ambassadors for Burgundy wines all over the world. With a clear, elegant and striking style, wines are produced here without exception that meet the ideal image of a Burgundy. “A wine estate of very high quality, which represents the full splendor of French viticultural art,” writes the renowned French wine author duo Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve.

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time-honored traditions practiced for centuries in their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage benefits from special attention that makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

The Faively Bourgogne Pinot Noir mainly come from vineyards located in the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard for this wine dates back to the Gallo-Roman period, but has been abandoned for many years. The monks of Cîteaux Abbey were known for their knowledge and skills of vinification and the terroirs in Burgundy. They successfully breathed new life into the vineyards around the 11th century. The vineyards were newly planted in 1962, 1978 and 1981 with an average yield of 55 hl/ha. Domaine Faiveley keeps the work in the vineyards in-house, which gives them excellent control over the quality of the grapes. The hand-picked harvest is carefully brought to the cellars in Nuits Saint Georges. The wine partially ages in barrels and in French oak barriques for 12-14 months.

This Burgundy Pinot Noir is nice and 'farmer'. It is of course a 100% Pinot Noir and the wine has pleasant red fruit aromas. The attack is rich and ripe with refined, soft tannins. A pleasant wine with a good structure. This is a wonderful glass to drink 'as is' but goes very well with white meat and roasted meat.

Vineyard for 2021 Faiveley Bourgogne Pinot Noir

The history of Domaine Faiveley dates back to 1825. The domain has been family-owned for 7 generations and is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of Burgundy. 127 ha Vineyards, spread over Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, of which 12 vineyards with Grand Cru classification, 25 with Premier Cru classification and 6 vineyards with a "Monopole" classification. The estate is managed by Erwan Faiveley, who keeps the work in the vineyards in-house to control the quality of the grapes. The hand-picked harvest is carefully transported to 19th century vaulted cellars located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. To make great Burgundies, Erwan Faiveley combines the principles of modern oenology with traditional aging in French oak barrels. All this contributes to the fact that Faiveley wines are highly regarded.
