When we talk about Burgundy, Domaine Faiveley is one of the very best addresses. This is a large family business with approximately 120 hectares of vineyards, including famous names such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis Grand Cru.
However, it is also a family winery with 10 hectares of Grand cru and almost 25 hectares of Premier cru. The first step was taken in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley; his son Joseph turned the winery into a great top business and his wines became ambassadors of Burgundy wines all over the world. With a clear, elegant and striking style, wines are produced here without exception that meet the ideal image of Burgundy. “A winery of very high quality, which represents the full glory of French viticulture”, writes the famous wine author duo Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve in France.
Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time-honored traditions practiced for centuries in their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage benefits from special attention that makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.
Wine has been made in the village of Rully for many years. The reputation of the wines from this village is excellent. In 1629, King Louis XIII received 22 barrels of wine from Rully as a gift during his journey to Chalon-sur-Saône. The white wines of Rully are today one of the most iconic wines of the Côte Chalonnaise. The white wines of Rully are today one of the most iconic wines of the Côte Chalonnaise. Also this Rully from the vineyard Les Villeranges. Beautiful Chardonnay with a refined wood aging.
The vines are planted on a soil of limestone and clay. The vineyards have an eastern exposure and are located in the Côte Châlonnaise and were planted in 1987 and 1990. The harvest is hand-picked once the grapes have reached their perfect ripeness. After harvesting, they are taken to the cellars in Mercurey. The vinification takes about 4 weeks. The wines are aged in barrels for 11 months with regular battonage. This increases the aromatic complexity of the wine without losing its character and vibrancy. After fining, the wine is transported to Nuits Saint Georges to be bottled at Domaine Faiveley headquarters. The Faiveley Rully Les Villeranges Blanc is a 100% Chardonnay with a mineral and smoky nose in the nose with aromas of ripe fruit. It is a pleasant wine with a round, soft and refreshing attack and is a delicious and handsome glass of white wine to enjoy and is an excellent accompaniment to fried white fish and shellfish.
The history of Domaine Faiveley dates back to 1825. The domain has been family-owned for 7 generations and is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of Burgundy. 127 ha Vineyards, spread over Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, of which 12 vineyards with Grand Cru classification, 25 with Premier Cru classification and 6 vineyards with a "Monopole" classification. The estate is managed by Erwan Faiveley, who keeps the work in the vineyards in-house to control the quality of the grapes. The hand-picked harvest is carefully transported to 19th century vaulted cellars located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. To make great Burgundies, Erwan Faiveley combines the principles of modern oenology with traditional aging in French oak barrels. All this contributes to the fact that Faiveley wines are highly regarded.
