Description
Inspired after a visit to Bordeaux, Dan Duckhorn produced the first vintage of Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot in 1978. With an emphasis on estate vineyards and prime locations, the Merlot reflects the diversity of the valley's many appellations. Blending with Cabernet Sauvignon adds remarkable depth and structure, as well as distinctive flavors of black cherry, plum and spice. The final blend is 76% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc.
Winemaker Notes: ” ...this alluring wine embodies the rich diversity of great Napa Valley Merlot. From its velvety tannins and lively acidity to luxurious layers of plum, candied black cherry, red licorice and sweet baking spices... ”

A vibrant and fruity nose with cassis, spiced plums, dried herbs, olives and a hint of tobacco. Quite juicy and fluid on the palate, showing lots of spices, together with savory, saline character. A medium-bodied Napa cab that hits the drinkability sweet-spot. Drink now, or hold.
